Here Is How to Apply:

1. You may submit the application to the Visa Office of the Embassy or Consulate General in the local area where you reside. Here is the info about the Embassy or Consulates -Generals in the U.S.A.

2. If you cannot go to the visa office in person, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to drop off your application at the visa office of the China Embassy or Consulate General which holds consular jurisdictionin over the area where you reside.

3. Usually no appointment is required. But don't mail your application to the China visa office. It will not be accepted.

4. You may apply on line.

 

The Processing Time and Visa Fees:

The processing time:

  • The regular processing time is 4 working days.
  • Express service: 2-3 working days processing, $20 will be charged per visa.
  • Same day rush service: additional fees of $30 for 1 working day processing.

Visa fees:

  • Fee: $140 for American individuals, $120 per person for American groups.
  • $30 for citizens of other countries.
  • Extra service fee will be added if you need express services: $20 per visa for regular express service; $30 per visa if it's for the same day rush service.
  • Cash or personal checks are not accepted. You need to pay by Visa, MasterCard, Money Order, Cashier's Check or Company Check.

Other Things That You Need to Know

Generally, you must go through residential formalities in the local public security department within thirty days of your entry into China.

If you are an American citizen, you may apply for a multiple entry China Student Visa that is valid for 12 months.

China Visa Officers may require some other relevant documents they consider necessary.

If you are suffering from a mental disorder, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, contagious tuberculosis or other such infectious diseases, you will not be permitted to enter China.
